Catholic Charities Wins 2024 Top Workplace Award
The Baltimore Sun identifies winners based on confidential employee survey results collected from hundreds of organizations throughout Central Maryland
December 9, 2024 — Based on confidential employee survey results gathered from hundreds of participating organizations throughout Central Maryland, The Baltimore Sun has named Catholic Charities of Baltimore a winner of a 2024 Top Workplace Award — a prize created to highlight the importance and appeal of a people-first culture on the job.
Private-sector, public-sector, and nonprofit employers with 35 or more staff members in the Baltimore area were eligible for the 14th annual awards. Selections were based solely on the results of a 24-question survey administered to the employees of participating organizations. The survey assessed employees’ experiences in a variety of categories, including:
• Feeling respected and supported;
• Enabled to Grow; and
• Empowered to execute.
“Being identified as one of the best workplaces in the region is profoundly gratifying, given the emphasis we place on championing our nearly 2,000 staff members and the impact of their work on behalf of those in need, said James Phillips, Catholic Charities’ chief officer of human resources. “We are focused on maintaining a culture of support, development, and inclusion to put all of our colleagues in the best possible position to grow, thrive, and serve.”
Catholic Charities offers a variety of programs and benefits to cultivate professional development, promote employee satisfaction, and contribute to work-life balance, including:
• Career Pathways, a program designed to support professional growth and help colleagues achieve their individual career goals.
• Tuition Advance, a program crafted to support educational and professional growth by providing upfront financial assistance to alleviate the immediate burden of educational expenses.
• Professional Certificates & CEU’s, an initiative that provides financial resources and other assistance to ensure that staff have the credentials needed to excel in their given service areas.
With an engaged and supported team of colleagues, Catholic Charities is able to sustain and increase its focus on providing quality support to Marylanders in need.
